Is it possible to pass a license without attending a driving school?

Changes in the practical part

Previously, drivers could independently prepare for testing at the traffic police, but, according to experts, the level of knowledge acquired comprehensively and evenly will allow them to pass the tests much better and faster. The State Traffic Inspectorate is dissatisfied with the performance of self-trained drivers. The level of knowledge of such applicants for obtaining rights is quite mediocre. While most students in a driving school can pass the test the first time, “self-taught” students have to spend time and money retaking the test.

This year, the practical driving test in the city and on the site has been combined into one position. Driving schools not only inform students about the training route used to pass the test, but also force future drivers to automatically practice all the skills necessary to pass the exam. This significantly increases exam passing rates, because the student will simply repeat everything he was taught in class.

How to pass a license without a driving school?

Without a driving school, it is possible to obtain a license only under one condition - to undergo training and pass an internal exam, there are no other options. After training, confirmed by successfully passing internal exams, you will be issued a certificate of completion of the driving school. With this document you must go to the traffic police to apply for the state exam. Although you don’t have to go to the branch, you can sign up through the State Services portal, which will be much faster. Self-testing is convenient because you choose the time and city in which you will take the tests.

By law, you can take exams at any traffic police department throughout the Russian Federation, and not just the one closest to your place of registration. Remember that the queue for the exam is much longer on weekends than on weekdays.

The bad news for those who decided to take the exams on their own is that it is far from a fact that at the exam you will get a car of the same model that you learned to drive in a driving school. Therefore, find out in advance which cars will be allocated to you during the driving skills test. If you haven’t had a chance to practice on the car brand provided, then take a couple of hours of driving this model in order to get used to the controls and dimensions. Then during the exam you will definitely not be sent to retake for hesitant driving.

Well, those who take exams from a driving school should not worry - the educational institution provides its own fleet of vehicles for state exams, and not cars from the traffic police.

As you can see, it is impossible to get a driver’s license without training. Therefore, enroll in the driving school you like and study hard, because getting a license is not as difficult as it seems at first glance.

What changes are planned in 2021

The new legislation is considering a number of changes that may be adopted in the near future.

These include:
  1. Permission to carry out testing on highways. This will prepare students for emergency situations involving heavy traffic of a large number of cars.
  2. Increase in the number of reasons for refusal of admission to testing. Driving schools must periodically update conclusions with the State Traffic Inspectorate. If a student studied at an institution not accredited by the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, he may be denied access to the exams.
  3. Make the period before retaking the exam shorter. This will enable the student to better prepare for testing. Thus, theory can be retaken no later than in a month, and practice – in 2 months. In the 4 months between theory and practice, a motorist can forget everything that was previously learned.
  4. Now there will be a division between the concepts of “learner” and “learner”. The status of the student is not recorded in any way, because the instructor is essentially considered the driver. In the event of an accident, responsibility falls entirely on the training person. The introduction of certain amendments made it possible to divide responsibility between the instructor and the student.
  5. There have also been changes in the age of admission to driving.

IMPORTANT !!! If previously there was a division into categories into age groups, now only persons who have reached the age of majority are allowed to take exams. Driving schools are prohibited from accepting students under 18 years of age.

Where can I get my license faster? Directly to the regional traffic police departments, taking into account the driver’s registration. This is due to the fact that under such circumstances a person does not turn to intermediaries, which means that a lot of time and effort can be saved.

What advice can you give to drivers who want to quickly complete their license registration? Here are the recommendations drivers give each other:

  • pay for the registration service in advance;
  • undergo driving training in advance;
  • pass a driver's examination in private centers;
  • apply for a license directly to the traffic police according to the applicant’s registration.

Now the production and re-issuance of rights should not cause any significant difficulties. Even a novice driver will be able to quickly achieve the desired goal.

Can they refuse to issue a document? Yes, but only if there are compelling reasons. These can be:

  • contraindications for driving in humans;
  • no service fee;
  • the presence of an incomplete package of documents for obtaining a license;
  • use of counterfeit or invalid papers.

Fortunately, if you carefully prepare for registration of rights, you can quickly obtain them from any registration authority. If any difficulties or questions arise, the traffic police will definitely help you resolve them.

Distance learning

The driver will not be able to obtain a license or open a new category without providing a document confirming completion of the driving course. Attending a driving school as usual is inconvenient for many drivers. This is especially true for those motorists who simply need to open a new category. They already know the theory, but they practice driving in the field. An alternative to regular training at a driving school can be distance learning.

Such classes are available to residents of the Russian Federation, as well as citizens of other countries. To use this service, you must provide a medical card and passport. During the training process, you can study the basic requirements of current legislation and the features of servicing your transport.

ATTENTION !!! Basic driving principles will also be available to motorists. After completing the training process and completing all the necessary programs, the future driver will be able to obtain permission to test.

An application for this type of training must be submitted in person at the driving school. Based on it, an agreement is drawn up. After registering on the driving school website, the student will be able to make payment and join the training, which is carried out according to an individual schedule. At the same time, the exam is also taken remotely at a time convenient for the future driver.

Documents for studying at a driving school in 2021

Amendments are periodically made to the current legislation of the Russian Federation, and therefore the list of documents required to begin training for a license is constantly changing. In 2021, you can enroll in our driving school on the basis of a passport and a down payment, but you can bring a medical certificate later. In some cases, other documents will be required.

The standard list of documents for a driving school looks like this:

    • passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation;
    • medical certificate in form 003-В/у;
    • photographs 3x4 (3 pcs.).

Sometimes they may require a military ID, but more often it is needed to undergo a medical examination. If the driving school does not accept payment on the spot, you will need to provide an additional receipt from the bank.

Above is a list of documents for citizens over 18 years of age. For those who have not reached this age, including schoolchildren, the driving school may also ask for written permission from their parents to conduct training, including practical driving.

Citizens of the Russian Federation permanently residing in the country can study in any locality without presenting additional documents, but for some driving schools it is important to have at least temporary registration. As for foreign citizens, they need to prepare documents that confirm their legal stay in the country. This may be a residence permit, temporary registration or temporary residence permit.

The list of documents required for enrollment in driving courses can be found in the table.

Are there any advantages to distance learning?

This training system has a number of advantages, which include:
  • saving time and money,
  • training in comfortable conditions,
  • all required materials are provided to the student in electronic form.

ATTENTION !!! Training is conducted in the form of a webinar or already recorded video lessons are sent to the student. The webinar provides an opportunity to get answers to your questions during the lesson, but the student needs access to the Internet and free time to watch the lesson.

This type of training is practiced quite rarely in driving schools. More often, the student is sent pre-recorded lessons, after learning which he will have to undergo a short test. In this case, questions can be asked through the communication channel established by the driving school.

There are also plenty of disadvantages to this type of training.

These include:
  • lack of self-organization of students,
  • unstable feedback from the teacher,
  • lack of live communication, which is an important component for some students.

If desired, the student can organize his time in such a way as to allocate sufficient time to study the educational material. Self-discipline plays an important role in distance learning. In this case, concessions may backfire on a “lazy” or “careless” student. He will need to spend much more time on the learning process than other students. If it is necessary to receive live communication between the student and the teacher during the learning process, it is better to give preference to the classical form of education.

Do you need the services of a private instructor?

If the instructor at a driving school is not suitable for the student, the learning process can slow down significantly. A specialist at this level may choose the wrong teaching style or communicate with the student in a peculiar manner. Having skated for the allotted time, the future driver still did not begin to feel confident on the road. Often, when such situations arise, the administration of the driving school changes the instructor to another, but sometimes the new specialist is no better than the old one. Hiring a private instructor in this case will be a panacea for the student.

Despite all the advantages of a private specialist, a training contract cannot be concluded. The consequence of this will be the refusal to issue a certificate of completion of training by the driving school. A private instructor does not always have permission to conduct training lessons, and all problems on the road become a headache for the car owner.

ATTENTION !!! A private instructor can assure the student that he can solve all problems with the State Traffic Inspectorate inspector. This good news often inspires the student, but will such documents be valid? Will it turn out during the inspection that the driver is driving on fake documents? Before entrusting such a responsible business to a private owner, you should think carefully.

If the rights have already been obtained with the assistance of a private instructor, it is worth checking their legitimacy. To do this, you can visit the traffic police website and, after registering, enter your license number. When you find your rights in the database, you can cast aside doubts. Otherwise, you should find a private owner and make a refund. Traveling on the basis of false documents may result in criminal liability.

What documents will be needed?

A strictly defined package of documents must be presented to the traffic police to take the exam. Let's take a closer look at what documents are required:

  1. Application for a driver's license. This is the basis for the exam procedure. Such an application can be submitted to the traffic police in person or through the State Services website, which is very convenient. All other documents are attached to the application as confirmation that the candidate driver meets the legal requirements.
  2. A passport, without which, in principle, it is impossible to contact certain authorities, since it verifies your identity.
  3. A medical report is a very important document, since the future driver should not have any contraindications that would prevent him from driving a car.
  4. A document from a driving school confirming completion of a driver training program (for example, a certificate of education in the profession of “driver”). You can’t go anywhere without this document now, since independent learning is not allowed.
  5. If available, a Russian driver's license is presented, where another category is added (upon successful completion of the examination tests).
  6. If necessary, the written consent of one of the legal representatives to take the exam. This document will be required if a minor aged 16-18 years is going to take the exam.

Passing the exam at the State Traffic Inspectorate

The student will need to undergo testing at the traffic police. It consists of passing theory and driving. In the theoretical part, the future driver is required to correctly answer 20 questions. The exam will be accepted if there are no more than 2 errors. Otherwise, you will have to retake the exam in a week. For that

time, the future driver will be able to fill gaps in knowledge and better prepare for testing.

Once the theory is passed, you can move on to driving. It consists of several parts and has a number of features characteristic of each category. The student will be told in more detail about these nuances at the driving school. Every year examinees are pleased with new changes. When a driver fails the driving test, you should not give up. Retaking the exam will be more successful if you take into account all the shortcomings and correct them.

Many drivers are very worried before testing at the State Traffic Inspectorate, this prevents them from getting into the right mood and correctly performing the necessary actions. Self-confidence will be an excellent assistant in the exam, with sufficient theoretical and practical training.

Preparation requirements for admission to the exam and conditions for obtaining rights

To obtain a license, you must first successfully pass an internal exam at a driving school, and then a state exam at the traffic police. But before this, it is necessary to complete a full course of training, which includes theoretical and practical classes with a total duration of at least two and a half months.

Each driving school has the right to determine the rules for passing the exam. The rules can be either more stringent or softer than those of the state exam. But in most cases, the regulations for internal exams in driving schools approximately correspond to the regulations that exist in the traffic police.

State traffic police exams are divided into several parts:

  • The first stage is theoretical. It is a test and is carried out on a computer. In the allotted twenty minutes of time, you need to give correct answers to all the questions on the exam paper. It consists of four thematic blocks and each block contains five questions.
  • After testing, the student will have the practical part of the exam.

If a student takes an internship as part of a driving school, then most likely he will be provided with a car of the same model in which he studied, which is undoubtedly a big plus.

First, you need to demonstrate your driving skills on a race track (site). After the circuit, you will have to drive in an urban environment. Each test taker has his own examination sheet, where the inspector writes down the number of penalty points. If, at the end of this stage, the number of penalty points for a driver candidate does not exceed the permissible limit, then the result of the exam is considered positive.

After successfully passing all the tests, the most joyful moment comes for the student - receiving a driver's license. They can be picked up on any day convenient for you.

For all others, retakes are assigned. The first re-examination is possible no earlier than in a week, and after three unsuccessful attempts - no earlier than in a month. The total number of attempts is not limited by law.
