Buying a car always involves a lot of expense. In this case, correctly executed documents are the guarantee that in the future there will be no problems with registration with the traffic police and further operation of the vehicle. There are often cases when the court deprived the owner of property if the necessary documents were missing or were executed incorrectly.
Even though transactions with car dealerships seem to be more reliable than with private parties, having all the necessary documentation is extremely responsible.
Saved up and bought
An ideal option in which you don’t need to pay interest on the loan and buy an expensive comprehensive insurance policy, but... This option is more suitable in the secondary market, where real money on hand sometimes helps to bring down the price somewhat. When purchasing a new car at a dealership, the client will not receive any discounts, which means, in a sense, he will overpay compared to users with a car loan. Essentially, this is the same customer who brought the consumer loan money to the dealer. Paradox? No. Here's how a sales manager who wished to remain anonymous explained it:
“A buyer with money in hand has little value. He simply pays the automaker, pays the dealer a little, and disappears. By purchasing a car on credit, a person “feeds” the partner bank, the insurance company and the service of the official dealer. This is a long-term partnership, and in a few years, if the manager doesn’t screw up, the client will buy his next car here. Therefore, he is compensated for most of the costs.”
Choosing a car dealership
The procedure for purchasing a car should be carried out exclusively from a trusted and official dealer. In the market of almost every city there are many resellers and organizations that claim that they are dealers, but in fact do not have the necessary powers. Therefore, purchasing a car from such an institution is a risky decision for every person, since the overpayment increases and the opportunity to apply for repairs on the basis of warranty service is lost.
Therefore, purchasing a new car at a car dealership must be done correctly. The procedure takes into account the following important points:
- it is important to make sure that the selected organization is indeed an official dealer, for which you can go to the company’s website or obtain information directly from the manufacturer of a specific car brand;
- many showrooms offer the possibility of using trade-in, with the help of which an old car is replaced with a new one;
- When choosing a salon, it is taken into account what brand of car the buyer requires.
Only if there is evidence that the car is actually being sold by an official dealer can you begin to process the registration of a new car.
Which is more profitable?
The most profitable option, with the right approach, should be recognized as the cunning method “Save up, take out a car loan, get discounts, pay off.” In second place is a car loan, overpayments on which are compensated not only by the car manufacturer, but also by the state. Third place goes to consumer credit, which does not have significant benefits, but is indispensable in some life situations.

What is the procedure for buying a car?
Quite often, citizens decide to purchase a new car at a car dealership. The procedure for this is considered quite simple, but for this purpose successive steps are performed:
- Initially, all salons available in a particular city or nearby regions are located via the Internet;
- It is recommended to call each organization to find out about cars sold and promotions;
- the optimal brand of car is selected, after which the car is inspected;
- You can call dealers again to find out about the availability of different promotions or discounts;
- if the best option is chosen, then an agreement is concluded on the basis of which the car is purchased;
- money is transferred to the seller in different ways;
- the buyer receives a new car at his disposal.
The procedure may vary slightly depending on whether the car is purchased solely with your own funds or using borrowed money from the bank.
Car payment
You can purchase a new car at the dealership for cash or through money transfers. The second option is considered the most common and preferable, since when buying an expensive car it is not advisable to carry a large amount of money with you.
You can use your own or borrowed funds for the purchase. In the case of using his own money, the buyer is not subject to any specific requirements, and he is not obliged to buy a CASCO policy or perform other mandatory actions.
But most often, citizens are forced to use the help of banks to buy an expensive car.
Registration of car purchase and sale
Once the car arrives at the dealership and you are notified about it, a sales contract will be drawn up. What to pay attention to:
- Be sure to check the body numbers, color and specifications of the car with the data indicated in the contract.
- These points must also be included in the invoice for a new car.
- If the price of the car is in dollars, but check the percentage of currency conversion. Typically it is 1.5 percent.
But you can almost always “agree” with the manager to exchange rubles for dollars for a smaller amount.
As for registering a car with the automobile inspection, this burden can be placed on the employees of the car dealership. You can register a new car yourself. In any case, the issue of registration with the traffic police must be reflected in the contract.
Also, many car dealerships offer their car insurance services. But remember that in this case the number of insurance companies will be limited. Considering that CASCO insurance is mandatory for a car loan, it makes sense to choose an insurance company yourself.
Car design rules
The procedure for buying a car at a car dealership involves performing several sequential steps. Often, employees of this organization offer the opportunity to independently register a car with the traffic police, but for such services you will have to transfer a significant amount of money, so it is advisable to handle the process yourself, since it is considered quick and simple.
The rules for registering a car include:
- the procedure can be carried out through the departments of the traffic police, MFC, or you can even submit an application with documents through the State Services;
- for registration you will have to pay a fee equal to 2850 rubles, although if you use the State Services portal for this, a discount is provided;
- the procedure must be completed within 10 days after purchasing the car;
- To register, you need to give the traffic police officer a copy of the car owner’s passport, a purchase and sale agreement, PTS, a correctly completed application and a receipt for payment of the duty;
- The title must have a stamp indicating that the recycling fee has been paid, and it must also indicate the buyer’s full name and the date of purchase of the vehicle.
There is no need to hand over the MTPL insurance policy to the traffic police officers, but by the time the car is registered, you must already purchase insurance, since its availability is checked by a traffic inspector in the database.
The nuances of buying a car on credit
Buying a car at a dealership for cash is quite rare, so most often future car owners are interested in the possibility of obtaining a car loan intended for the purchase of a vehicle. Under these conditions, the following nuances are taken into account:
- the citizen must be solvent and officially employed;
- other large loans are not allowed;
- credit history must be perfect;
- if the loan amount is significant, it is necessary to use the help of guarantors or co-borrowers;
- the car acts as collateral;
- a CASCO policy must be purchased annually for such a car before the end of the loan term;
- Each bank sets its own requirements for the age, income and other characteristics of a potential borrower.
How to buy a car from a car dealership on credit? To do this, it is advisable to contact the branch of the selected bank in advance to apply for a loan. Almost every car dealership has representatives of credit institutions offering to apply for a car loan directly from this institution. But such offers usually have interest rates that are too high, so it is advisable to contact the bank branch directly.
Design features of a new car
When buying a car, you need to fill out the documents correctly in order to be able to operate it. First of all, you need to draw up an agreement with the car dealership, and you will need 3 copies:
- to you;
- to the seller;
- Traffic police for registration.
Please note that before signing the document to receive the car, it must be checked. Despite the fact that this is a new car, check all the numbers on the body and in the title. Also check the car for any defects.
After this you need to get insurance. Please note that from the date of purchasing the car you are given 10 days to issue a policy, but it is better to do this immediately. The fact is that if you get into an accident, you will have to repair the car and pay compensation to the other party involved in the accident from your own pocket. For this reason, it is best to take out an MTPL insurance policy immediately after purchasing a vehicle. The following documents are required for insurance:
- PTS;
- ID (a driver's license will do).
To obtain a policy, you must have a diagnostic card that confirms that you have passed a technical inspection. New cars are an exception, and therefore do not need to undergo maintenance. Take out insurance through MTPL and don’t worry about the lack of a diagnostic card.
The next step is to register the car with the traffic police. This must be done within 10 days after purchasing a car at a car dealership, and you need to contact the nearest branch at your place of residence. Please note that the amount of transport tax and fines that will be received for violating traffic rules depends on the place of registration.
To register a car, you must draw up and submit an application. By the way, you can do this online. In addition to the application, the following documents are required for registration:
- PTS and its copy;
- contract of sale;
- insurance;
- ID card (passport);
- general power of attorney and its copy (if necessary);
- receipt for payment of state duty.
Certificate of acceptance and transfer of a new car
The last, and most important, stage is the execution and signing of the Acceptance Certificate for the new car.
You cannot sign the Transfer and Acceptance Certificate before inspecting the car. It happens that unscrupulous car dealership managers park cars with scratches next to each other. To avoid being scammed, ask managers to move the car to a more spacious location. Do not drive the car yourself, otherwise possible scratches may be your responsibility.
Remember, the car must be clean. This will make it easier to notice all the flaws in the body. It is also worth contacting the manager to check the tire pressure. Very often during transportation the pressure is significantly increased.
Check the interior of the car carefully. Try all electrical equipment in action. If you ordered the installation of additional equipment, make sure it is available and in working order.
Pay attention to the car's odometer. The mileage on a new car should not exceed 20-30 km. Ask the salon managers to drive around the premises. This way you can check the operation of the steering mechanism, gearbox and engine.
If problems are noticed during the inspection, demand that they be corrected immediately.
When inspecting and receiving a car from the dealership, it is best to take with you a knowledgeable person who can notice something that not everyone would notice on their own.
It is also worth noting that you need to take a can of gasoline with you. New cars come with an almost empty tank so that you can drive to the nearest gas station.
