How to get a category and if there is a category in a tractor license

Vehicles of categories A and A1 are popular among drivers, and especially among young people. They are maneuverable, easy to operate, do not require huge maintenance costs, and consume little fuel. But category A, despite the relative ease of driving, requires mandatory basic training in a driving school for drivers and the availability of a license. Violation of the rules will entail administrative liability.

Any type of motorcycle is a rather dangerous means of transportation, and therefore requires sufficient qualifications from the driver.

Which vehicles are included in categories A, A1 and M

Motorbike

Before enrolling in a driving school, it would not hurt the future driver to find out all the details about opening a category A driver’s license and what it is all about. Category A includes heavy motorcycle vehicles. This fully equipped vehicle can weigh up to 400 kg, and the working engine capacity is more than 125 cm cubic.

Such a motorcycle can also be equipped with a sidecar (or side trailer), although over the past few decades this device has been used extremely rarely by motorcyclists. This category also includes powerful 3- and 4-wheeled vehicles, but with a total weight within the same 400 kg.

Category A gives the driver the right to drive vehicles of two more categories:

  1. A1 is a subcategory. These are the same motorcycles, only with smaller engine capacity - in the range of 50-125 cm3, and power is allowed up to 11 kW. This also includes 3-wheeled vehicles weighing up to 550 kg, the maximum speed of which is limited to 45 km/h.
  2. M – mopeds, scooters and other light vehicles, whose engine volume is not higher than 50 cm3. Light ATVs are in the same category. For some time now, all these vehicles have gained immense popularity among drivers, since they do not require training or wearing a helmet. But it's that widespread prevalence that has forced lawmakers to tighten the rules.

Each category of motorcycle has its own age standards:

  1. Category A licenses will be available to citizens over 18 years of age.
  2. Driving category A1 is available from 16 years of age. Automatically opens if you receive category A.
  3. Category M provides special training only for citizens aged 16 years or older who do not have any driving license, since it can be opened automatically if you have a license for any category of driving.

For each of the classification categories, training can be completed before the specified age (at 14-15 years old for A1 and M, from 16 years old for A), but you will be able to pass the exam and receive a document (driver’s license) only upon reaching the required date.

When a driver receives category A, A1 or M, a note about this is made on the back of the license, in the corresponding line and column. Restrictions are entered in the adjacent column.

Training in a driving school for categories A and A1

Most often, future drivers enroll in driving training at a regular licensed driving school. In a few months (or a little more), a person will study the theory, traffic rules, and acquire the necessary practical skills.

Particular attention should be paid to the choice of establishment. It must have a good reputation and experienced instructors on staff. It also doesn't hurt to make sure your teaching license isn't expired.

For admission you need:

  • to write an application;
  • collect and provide a package of documents;
  • pay for tuition (by agreement with the institution itself, this is done either at a time or in stages, prices also vary depending on the school itself);
  • conclude a training agreement;
  • pass a medical examination and bring the certificate to the driving school;
  • if the student is under 27 years old, then a military ID is provided.

The package of documents includes:

  • copy of passport (1 and 2 pages);
  • 3x4 photos (in every salon, specialists know what photos are needed for a license);
  • if there is a certificate for another category, then a copy of it.

The educational process consists of several stages:

  1. Theory. Future drivers study traffic rules, the structure of a motorcycle, the rules of its operation, the selection of the correct equipment, the provision of medical care in the event of an accident, etc.
  2. Practice on the race track. The instructor will teach the motorcyclist how to use the equipment: starting the engine, starting and braking, and various control and riding tactics. On average, this takes about 10 hours.
  3. Before the main exam at the State Traffic Inspectorate, you need to pass the internal one at the driving school itself. This is good training for drivers.

After successfully completing the training, the driving school will submit documents to the State Traffic Inspectorate (to which it is attached), where the exam date will be set. An instructor from the school will also be present.

Where can I get my license?

ATV license

You can obtain rights from the relevant territorial bodies of Gostekhnadzor. To do this, you will need to complete a training course and pass an exam. Previously, the procedure was simpler. It was enough to pass a simple test on the ability to drive an ATV.

Today you will need to take a training course at a driving school, which can be regular or accelerated. In the first case, the training lasts several months, after which it will be possible to pass the corresponding exam. You can take the accelerated course in absentia and get your license faster. The rider must pass a driving theory exam and also demonstrate ability to control an ATV.

Young drivers also undergo appropriate training. Next, they take an exam on driving theory and practice.

The simplified procedure is provided for by law only for drivers who have already received category “A” licenses. Having collected a package of relevant documents and paid the state fee, you can open an additional subcategory “A1”.

Traffic police exam - theoretical part

The most important stage is the traffic police exam. You can take it in at any branch in Russia, regardless of your registration and place of residence. The only caveat is that not everywhere there is a fleet of vehicles for these purposes.

To get admission to the exam, you need to collect the documents again:

  • passport (or other identification, for example, a military ID or military personnel ID);
  • certificate of passing a medical examination for category A driving license;
  • a certificate from a driving school stating that the training course has been completed;
  • application (the form can be obtained from the traffic police department or you can find and download it yourself on the website);
  • receipt of payment of state duty (2,000 rubles).

The traffic police exam consists of two stages - theoretical knowledge and practical driving.

The first part is theoretical, it looks like this:

  1. The examinee sits down at the computer. An individual task for him comes from the Ministry of Internal Affairs server.
  2. The general database consists of 800 questions, the program randomly selects 20 among them. Of the 4 proposed answer options for each task, the examinee selects one. The questions relate not only to traffic rules, but also to the entire theory that was taught in driving school - rules for operating a motorcycle, first aid, equipment, factors of accidents, etc.
  3. The future driver has the right to only 2 mistakes. If there are more, the exam will be repeated in a week. You can retake it a third time in a month. A total of three attempts are given. If all of them are unsuccessful, the training course will have to be repeated.

There is enough time to study the theory. The driver does not have to memorize the textbook. If you carefully read the material several times and delve into each point, this part of the exam will not cause any difficulties.

After successfully passing the theory, practice will follow. It is not necessary to take the driving test on the same day - a citizen is given a whole 3 months to do this.

Free service “Solve traffic rules online and traffic rules exam 2019”

If you need to pass exams at the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate, Gostekhnadzor (State Technical Inspectorate) or GIMS and obtain a license to drive a car, motorcycle, boat, motor boat, tractor, bulldozer, loader, excavator, grader, ATV, snowmobile or other self-propelled equipment; If you want to practice solving traffic rules exam tickets in the new edition for cars or self-propelled vehicles, then the free, constantly updated online service “Traffic Rules Online Spectrum” will help you with this.

Driving practice for the traffic police exam

The vehicle (motorcycle) will be provided by the driving school, the traffic police, or you are allowed to bring your own, on which the driver has already had the opportunity to practice.

As mentioned above, you can take the exam for category A only from 18 years of age (for A1 - from 16). And if drivers applying for category B pass practice on highways in city conditions, then a race track is sufficient for future motorcyclists.

First, you are given 2 minutes to familiarize yourself with the driving area. In case of strong anxiety or if the driver has a feeling that he is not ready yet, then you can refuse and reschedule the tests to a later date (the main thing is to decide to repeat it within 3 months). The examiners will not count this as a failed attempt.

Before starting the process, the driver puts on a helmet, sits on the seat, removes the footrest, starts the motorcycle and does not forget to turn on the headlight. As soon as the inspector gives the command, you must begin performing the exercises within 30 seconds. The test itself includes 6 elements.

What a driver should be able to do:

  1. Get moving.
  2. Operate equipment at low and high speed.
  3. Maneuver in narrow spaces.
  4. Switch speeds.
  5. Disembark passengers correctly.
  6. Operate with one hand for a short time.

The sequence of exercises in each department of the traffic police is different; the listed elements in different compositions are present in several maneuvers.

For example, the examinee will be offered three tasks:

  1. Get moving, demonstrate acceleration and braking while performing the clearance corridor, and then the clearance semicircle.
  2. Drive at low speed along a rutted road, like a snake.
  3. Perform a figure eight.

The test conditions are quite strict. Before starting, the instructor will explain to the driver that the average speed on the site is 10 km/h, accuracy and speed must be strictly observed. You need to complete the exercise within the allotted time (it is not advisable to go either faster or slower). It is forbidden to leave the boundaries of the site, drive in the other direction, stop in the wrong place, etc. You are allowed to make mistakes no more than 2 times: knocking down a cone, tripping your leg, stalling.

For certain violations, the inspector assigns penalty points and records them in the protocol. If these points are slightly exceeded, the examiner allows you to immediately retake the maneuver. If there are many violations, the driver will have to retake the entire practice later.

Who can get an ATV license?

Almost every ATV owner can get a license. But there are some requirements that are put forward to those wishing to obtain a license. The ATV driver must be 16 years of age or older. In addition, you will need to undergo a medical examination. If doctors determine that a person has physical or mental illnesses or pathologies that could lead to a dangerous situation on the road, it will be impossible to obtain a driver’s license.

The number of attempts to pass the exam at Gostekhnadzor is limited. If at least one stage of testing is not passed, the vehicle owner will have only three attempts to retake the exam. After this, you will need to take an additional training course. It includes both theoretical and practical parts. To be able to take the exam again, the local Gostekhnadzor department will need to present a document confirming that the person has completed the training course again.

Obtaining rights

After successfully passing all exams, the driver receives a category A license for a motorcycle. At this point, the state fee must be paid. In 2021, its size is 2,000 rubles.

This amount includes:

  • payment for the work of traffic police officers;
  • the certificate itself in the form of a plastic card (exams, including repeated ones, are held free of charge).

When receiving new categories (or due to replacement or loss), each time the citizen is issued a new card, which means that each time you will have to pay 2,000 rubles to receive it. A paper-based driver's license is gradually disappearing from circulation, although it is still possible to obtain one.

Payment of the fee is carried out in several ways: at the bank’s cash desk, through bank terminals. You can get the details and even generate a ready-made payment document on the official website of the traffic police. If you submit an application on the State Services service, you can pay the state fee at a discount (only by bank transfer).

Driving with an expired license (as well as without licenses or open categories) is punishable by a fine of 5 to 15 thousand rubles and evacuation of the vehicle, so you should not save on paying the fee.

What do you need to get a snowmobile driver's license?

The driver should prepare the following certificates:

  1. Civil ID card.
  2. Medical certificate.
  3. A receipt confirming the transfer of the required amount of state duty for obtaining a driver's license.
  4. A certificate that will confirm the fact of completion of training.
  5. 2 photos.
  6. If the license is not issued at the place of residence, it is worth taking a document from the Gostekhnadzor representatives at the place of registration that will confirm that such a certificate has not been previously received.

You will need to write an application at the Gostekhnadzor office.

After completing the training and passing the exam, the driver will receive:

  • certificate of completion of training;
  • driver license;
  • An individual driver card is also issued.
